Ken incorporates teaching strategies and behavior management into his performances.   As he performs his songs he discusses the writing process, the Six Traits + 1 writing model, and how important it is to be a life-long reader.  His songs inspire while tickling everyone's funny-bone!  Kids and adults alike have so much fun, the only disappointment is when the show is over.  Just when I think he can't possibly get any better, I enjoy each show more than the last one I attended.  You can't go wrong in booking Ken for your special event!   ​

     Talking to the wind, waiting for an old lamplighter to chase away the dark, an encounter with a pie-baking witch, telling what happens when the "switcher-on of stars" loses his tower key and can't light up the night sky: most of Ken Lonnquist's image-filled songs wander deep and dreamily into storytelling territory. "Voo Doo" takes a more humorous approach, giving a surprise happy ending to a boy's cheeky theft of a witch's apple pie. "The Girl and Mister Moon," while not the most musical, is memorable for the depth of its heart as a frightened little girl begs "one beam of love" from the moon "to wash away the shadows from the valley and the hill."   ​

     Capturing the joys of reading and writing through songs (inspired by well-known books and tales), Ken talks about imagining, writing & editing. He draws on material from his numerous musicals: A Christmas Carol, Alice In Wonderland, Babar the Elephant, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, The Magicians Nephew, Old Befana, Snow White, and others. He performs songs related to books from "The Surgeon Generals Report" to "The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet", "My Father's Dragon" amd "Princess And The Pea".​
